As I’d like to be like was born out of a concern for our society: the desire to obtain beauty and to remain beautiful.
What I’d like to be like suggests the fragility of the body, its physical beauty and also its aggressiveness to obtain this beauty. It is about exposing and hiding oneself, about that which is natural and that which is artificial, about seeing oneself reflected in somebody else, liking or disliking oneself. As I’d like to be presents a dissonant score where women are shown as plural multifaceted and at times contradictory. Above all this piece represents the struggle and the dissatisfaction towards the search for a self-created ideal that one creates and never becomes true.
This work questions and suggests different themes in relation to this desire: the object body, the industry body , the decayed body, the sensitive body, body metamorphosis, body self-esteem, the body and seduction.
